About Us

Some history:

Ko-Net was founded in Early 2023, fuelled by displeasure of how other privacy hosting services operated. At this time, no reliable and privacy focused, fully-managed hosting service existed. The original aim, was to provide high quality, privacy focused services, to clients that were unable to manage services themselves.

Since this time, we have expanded to many managed clients, but we were also frequently requested to provide Virtual Private Servers (VPS) to individuals that didn't need our management, which we did offer on a manual basis. In October of 2025 we decided to expand our offering to officially offering these with automated provisioning and billing, alongside our existing managed service offering. With the procurement of our own equipment to support it, we fully released the new offering in December of that year.

In just a few months since then, this new offering has been a great success, and we have been very pleased to see a large influx of new customers to our services. As such, we plan to continue to expand in the very near future to more locations and to add more features over time.

About the team:

When we started, we were founded and run by a single individual, primarily catering towards Japanese speaking users, for which many privacy services don't cater for due to the language barrier. But we have since taken another two individuals on board for additional Japanese and English support, and we are also hoping to add Korean language support very soon.

We aren't owned by private equity, shareholders or profit-first corporations, all of our team is highly enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about what we do. We intend to continue forward with this in mind, and we don't ever intend to compromise quality or cut corners in order to generate more profit. We believe that being enthusiast owned and run is a significant advantage for us.

What we are:
  • We will never be the cheapest hosting provider. With the way we operate and the scale we have, we won't be able to beat or match the pricing from other service providers. However, we aim for a premium service, to be the best we can in the niche we operate in, and to reinvest our income in improving the services in privacy, features and performance. This means we won't be able to grow as fast, but we do think that with this method, our growth will be more stable and reliable for the future.
  • We operate with a customer first mindset. Where our founder is from, this is called おもてなし, which means similar to "The Customer is King" in English. We won't make excuses, we won't make you jump through many hoops to be compensated for our error, we will always do our best to avoid misleading you on what is happening, and we will always treat you with the respect you deserve. Every single one of our customers is valuable to us, no matter how small, and we want to show it.
  • We aim to be very careful about our future expansions, we are highly selective about the providers we work with, the Data-centres we pick and the countries we choose to operate within. We will never be able to have the same location selection as other providers, but we can guarantee that every server location will be carefully picked to allow us to provide the maximum freedom and privacy possible within the area, and preferably an element of uniqueness compared to other providers. In future, we will likely make a location comparison so that users are informed of the pros and cons when making a choice.
  • We take privacy very seriously. We are always trying to progress our services and features to allow more privacy for users, we have no intention of ever backtracking on our promises if we can avoid it, and we will always be doing our best to progress to independence from others where possible.
  • We try not to judge. We know that what is morally acceptable is not consistent around the world or even between people. As long as what you support, host, or create, is legal for us to provide services for, we will not attempt to censor you, no matter if we believe in it or not.
What we are not:

Nothing is ever only positive, so we must make it clear that there is some tradebacks to using us:

  • We are not a big business with significant financial backing and hundreds of servers, expansion will never be as fast as some others, we probably won't have the most modern or brand new equipment, and we don't have the resources required to implement every feature or offering right away. As such, we will not be able to cater to large enterprise customers, and we don't really want or intend to.
  • While we have a good SLA compared to other operators in this space and aim to provide a high quality service, it is not a promise of uptime, reliability or data resilience, and we may have more reliability issues than other providers. We provide a goodwill credit on services for issues caused by us, but we won't ever be able to compensate you or accept responsibility for lost business, revenue, or data as a result of any issues with our services.
  • We aren't perfect and don't claim to be. We are only human and we will make mistakes, so please forgive us when we do, and let us know so we can rectify them as soon as possible.
  • We aren't able to give free technical support. Our team is frequently very busy and we must charge you for any configuration or setup of services inside your VM, alongside any issues you have created yourself.
  • We are not "Bulletproof". Rarely any provider actually is, most are misleading you about it, and so we cannot protect you from the consequences of your own actions. If you break the law or our policies where your services are located, we are very likely to suspend your service, and we may be compelled to comply with valid court orders and law enforcement action to hand over what data we have on you. We will however, do our best to protect you from invalid claims made by trolls, agencies or law enforcement outside the jurisdictions that we operate, we generally aim to forward these invalid requests to you for you to decide yourself if you wish to comply.
  • To add onto above, please note that we do investigate all valid claims towards our users, we are not "Abuse Ignored", "Spam Allowed" or "Crime Permitted" either. If you are doing something wrong and someone reports you, we will probably find out. We do however, usually ignore claims without any evidence or way for us to personally verify the issues, so we don't rely on screenshots or hearsay to judge if a service is not compliant with our policies. We also do not go searching randomly through your services to try to find issues with them, we only act based on reports, and we do make an effort to work with customers before suspension or termination of their services.
  • We may not last forever. The future is never possible to predict, and it is not impossible that we may have to shut down one day. However, if we need to, we will do our best to give as much notice as possible to our customers and to offer refunds for unusable credit/service time if we can.
What we expect from our customers:

We do our best to provide you with the highest quality service, but we request that our customers return us some consideration:

  • Please don't trouble us with pointless or poorly written support requests, we have extremely limited time and it is better and faster for both you and us, if you can provide us as much information as possible to help us solve your problems, without needing to go back and forth. If you don't have paid support and have a simple problem that is within your control (inside your VM or on the panel), please attempt to do a basic internet search to solve the problem before putting in a support ticket.
  • We expect you to treat our support team with respect, please do not harass or verbally abuse them even if your issue is on our side, we are here to help you.
  • Please don't intentionally generate reports for us, if you're running or intending to run something that you think might generate a large number of unfounded abuse reports, please contact us first.
  • We expect that you will take backups of your data, preferably with a third party. We will provide a goodwill credit but we can't help you recover any lost data if we have issues with our services.
